skin ageing

Age-related skin changes are the result of genetically programmed changes (intrinsic factors) and environmental wear and tear on the skin (extrinsic factors). While both influence the skin's structure and function, extrinsic factors cause more pronounced changes.

Mature, prematurely-ageing or ageing skin is characterised by a loss of elasticity and firmness, and is often dehydrated. All areas can demonstrate signs of ageing, however, they tend to first develop around the eyes and sides of the mouth.

How can I control skin ageing?

An effective line of defense will control Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS - dangerous forms of oxygen molecules generated by UV rays and pollution), Matrix Metalloproteinases (MMPs - enzymes activated by UV exposure or inflammation) and Advance Glycation End-products (AGEs - result of glucose or sugar reacting with collagen, a protein, in the skin) that trigger the signs of skin ageing.

What's my regimen?

Below we’ve customised a regimens to focus on resurfacing, smoothing, and firming while controlling skin ageing at the source.

Exfoliation is critical to minimising the signs of skin ageing. However, excessive exfolliation can lead to inflammation, a known precusor to skin ageing. If you experience any sensitivity across your cheeks and forehead we suggest option 2 if not for best results option 1 is recommended.
